About Us

Too many Christians in the Workforce aren’t true disciples1 of Jesus Christ.

They may be successful in business or active at church, but their life doesn’t reflect the Master’s.

2414 is out to change that.

2000 years ago, Jesus Christ said these words,

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

As Christians today, it’s easy to habitually fill our schedules with many things that often seem good. But as we do, we miss the thing Jesus said was BEST.

Let’s be honest...trying to “do life” our own way simply doesn’t work.

It’s time to do it Jesus’ way, the only way — as His disciples, making disciples.

To do that, we must confront two problems at hand:

A global problem…and a local one.

Globally, there are 3.2 billion people in the world cut off from Gospel Access.

The church is either not present in these areas or it doesn’t reach the multitudes around them.

But…even though the church isn’t in those regions, it could be.

Across the world:

  • Over 900 churches exist for every remaining unreached people group.
  • There are more than 78,000 Christians for every unreached people group.
  • Less than 1% of the church’s cumulative budget AND less than 1% of global missionaries go to reaching these people.

This grievous global reality is ultimately a result of a local problem:
Most local Christians are not fully trained disciples who live like Jesus.

Too many Christians today say “missions can be anything” or “discipleship is a 6-week class at my church.”

Even still, 90% of churchgoers will never share the gospel with another person, let alone train someone as a disciple.

The first-century followers of Jesus would be shocked.

Jesus promised this task of the Gospel going to all nations would be completed before He comes again.

But to do this, we have to be faithful to His command.

My name is Matt.

Years ago, after reading the bible cover to cover, I launched 2414.

Gripped by Gods global story, and after having been discipled by several men who were as well, I knew I had to do something in the workforce. I was already busy as a husband, as a dad to three kids, and as a founder of two businesses. But I had to help others discover the same thing I had found.

2414 exists because I feel a deep conviction about the task Jesus commands us to complete: to “make disciples of all nations.”

The marketplace is a field ripe for harvest, but the laborers there are few.

That’s why 2414 is there.

The ultimate goal of 2414 is gigantic, yet singular in focus:

To equip the Christian workforce to finish the Great Commission

We do that by making disciples of all nations. That’s it. That is our ONLY goal.

We start local and go global.

There is massive work to do—with urgent significance.

Our strategy is clear:

  • Every day, we engage people as we work.
  • As we engage with someone, we join God in prayer for His work in their life.
  • We equip them with vision and training to run the race well and do their part to finish the Great Commission.

All disciples in 2414 get trained in relationship with a teacher.

That’s how Jesus did it. So that’s how we do it.

2414 is not a class—though we do classes. It’s not a retreat or a training or an international trip, though we do those, too.

Ultimately, 2414 is a vehicle to equip and train the Christian workforce in the context of life-on-life relationships to become true disciples.

We’re disciples making disciples, and the vision for every disciple is the same:

For each person to be fully trained, have a whole-world vision, and offer their whole life to glorify God by reproducing their lives so others will do the same.

Being a disciple is not an easy task.
The Master said it will cost us everything.
But it’s worth it.
Because the nations are worth it.
And most important… Jesus is worth it!

Finish the Great Commission

1. Disciple

Be aware that 1st century “Christians” would be confused by our 2414 website statement “Too many Christians … aren’t true disciples…”

The Greek word mathetes (which is often translated “disciple”) is used 269 times in the New Testament. However, the word “Christian” (or Christianos which is the greek) is only used 3 times. The term “Christian” in the Bible is ONLY used to describe a disciple, never the other way around.

We learn historically that disciples were disciples first, before other people ever called them Christian. Even more, when others called them Christian, it was because of what was seen about these disciples; that is, no matter how bad they were persecuted, how much they suffered, they never backed down from following their teacher, Jesus Christ, even to their own death.
