My name is Matt.
Years ago, after reading the bible cover to cover, I launched 2414.
Gripped by Gods global story, and after having been discipled by several men who were as well, I knew I had to do something in the workforce. I was already busy as a husband, as a dad to three kids, and as a founder of two businesses. But I had to help others discover the same thing I had found.
2414 exists because I feel a deep conviction about the task Jesus commands us to complete: to “make disciples of all nations.”
The marketplace is a field ripe for harvest, but the laborers there are few.
That’s why 2414 is there.
Be aware that 1st century “Christians” would be confused by our 2414 website statement “Too many Christians … aren’t true disciples…”
The Greek word mathetes (which is often translated “disciple”) is used 269 times in the New Testament. However, the word “Christian” (or Christianos which is the greek) is only used 3 times. The term “Christian” in the Bible is ONLY used to describe a disciple, never the other way around.
We learn historically that disciples were disciples first, before other people ever called them Christian. Even more, when others called them Christian, it was because of what was seen about these disciples; that is, no matter how bad they were persecuted, how much they suffered, they never backed down from following their teacher, Jesus Christ, even to their own death.
